EAUX finds out about Volvo’s latest V40 R-Design, made in Sweden, tuned for Britain

With up to 245bhp, the V40 R-Design boasts exclusive exterior and interior styling, optional sports chassis and responsive engines which combine to create a sporty yet refined five door hatchback, opening up a new market for Volvo.
The unique R-Design front features a silk-metal framed high-gloss grille. The sporty look is further enhanced with an ironstone diffuser, silk-metal finished details and twin exhaust tailpipes. The five-spoke diamond-cut wheels (17 and 18 inch) complete the dynamic look.
As standard, the car has received special attention from Volvo’s chassis engineering team, ensuring optimum handling, steering feel, agility and ride comfort. You can also opt for the sport chassis to give a sportier ride to go with its striking design.
Inside, the new generation R-Design seats and interior details emphasise the distinctive Scandinavian design aura of the all-new V40. The R-Design appeals especially to those that love active driving and expressive design.
Three new exterior colours have been added to the palette this year: Crystal White, Power Blue and Onyx Black. By upgrading to the R-Design Lux, drivers also benefit from active bending xenon headlights with cleaning system, rain sensor, leather-faced embossed seats, cruise control, keyless start and rear theatre lighting.
