Our beauty correspondent Rachel Gilbey reviews the Seascape Island Apothecary Awake Oil , £10, www.seascapeuk.com

I was excited to try this uplift awake oil from Seascape Island Apothecary as I’ve previously used their peppermint lip balm and loved it! I was also intrigued as I have never used an awake oil before and was curious to see whether it does what it claims to do. The oil claims to contain 100% natural essential oils of Jersey Eucalyptus to stimulate the circulation, Lime to energise the body and Lavender to refresh the senses. Grape Seed and Sweet Almond oils complete the blend. Seascape describe it as an ‘alarm clock in a bottle’!

I was a bit apprehensive as I wasn’t sure what exactly I’d notice once applied but honestly, I felt a difference right away. It’s recommended that you apply the oil to the temples, wrists or under the nose and the bottle has a roller ball top for easy application. As soon as I applied the oil, I could feel that it completely opened my senses and I immediately felt more alert. The oil has a refreshing citrus like fragrance which in itself is lovely and the bottle is small enough to carry in your handbag for day to day use. There are no guidelines on how often you can apply the oil but I have been using it no more than twice a day when I feel a little bit tired and need to be re-energized!

Another thing I love about Seascape products is that they are paraben, silicone, petroleum and SLS free and are suitable for vegetarians. There are no artificial colours or synthetic fragrances used and the products aren’t tested on animals. As well as this, all ingredients are sourced from ethical suppliers and the bottles and packaging are recyclable!

This is a great and affordable product if you’re looking for a natural boost of energy throughout the day without any hassle!
