The Walled Garden & Garden Cottage at Wilderness Reserve is now open…EAUX finds out more
The Walled Garden & Garden Cottage, two truly unique properties within a restored Victorian walled garden beyond the estate’s manor house Sibton Park, are now open and ready to be rented for holidays.
The properties can be rented independently or together to create a private 12-bedroom retreat on the 5,000 acre privately-owned estate which offers a luxury collection of fully serviced properties available to rent for weekends or longer stays. Located just two hours from London, and a stone’s throw from Suffolk’s fine Heritage Coast with its picturesque towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh, it’s the ultimate bolthole.
The Walled Garden will provide eight en-suite bedrooms. The bedrooms – complete with king-size Hypnos beds and quirky furnishings – are arranged either side of a large central baronial hall with vaulted ceiling and huge English Ancaster limestone fireplaces at either end.
The hall opens through the kitchen garden’s northern wall onto a range of traditional glass houses overlooking the newly restored one-acre kitchen garden. The original planting scheme for the kitchen garden has been re-established with a wide range of espaliered fruit trees and vegetable beds providing produce for guests to enjoy.
The three glasshouses provide the other main reception spaces. The largest central glasshouse is a spacious kitchen / breakfast room with large central oak island, professional range cooker and doors leading to a patio and kitchen garden beyond. The two further glasshouses provide a cinema room complete with a 110 inch wall-mounted flat screen television in the ‘Peach House’ and a games room in the ‘Vine House’. A thatched summer house contains a sauna and hot tub, built against the south wall overlooking the garden.
Outside the walls on the North West is the old Victorian Garden Cottage which can be rented separately or taken in conjunction with the main accommodation. The Garden Cottage provides a sitting room, kitchen plus four en suite bedrooms including a bunk room for up to six kids.
Both properties have underfloor heating throughout, open fires and luxuriously appointed bath and shower rooms. Daily housekeeping is included (if required), whilst additional services, including chefs, butlers and additional housekeeping can be added on.
Wilderness Reserve offers all the country pursuits you’d expect from a traditional English Estate, including: Clay-pigeon shoots, fishing, bird-watching, buggy tours and cycling. There is also a naturally-filtered swimming pool and tennis court just beyond the walls.
Prices at the Walled Garden start from £962 per night and Garden Cottage from £244 per night. Prices for The Walled Garden & Garden Cottage combined start from £1,056 (all rates are based on a seven-night stay).
