Ukulele Night at The Food Company – Wednesday 8th April 2015 7.30pm
It might have been all about that bass for Megan Trainor, but ukuleles have seen a stratospheric rise in popularity recently, with the likes of Mumford & Son, Ed Sheeran and James Blunt all featuring them on their singles. Always at the front of any trend, Essex based food hall & restaurant The Food Company are hosting a special ukulele night on Wednesday 8th April 2015 from 7.30pm.
Anyone with a love of the ukulele, or simply an interest in knowing more, is welcome to come along and enjoy a two course meal, with special guest, ukulele player Phil Doleman.
Phil’s voice is as big as his ukulele is small, and his love of blues, hokum, jug band and jazz shines through in his intricate picking and driving rhythms. Known as one of the leading lights of the ’3rd wave’ of the ukulele, Phil travels all over the UK performing and leading workshops at festivals, theatres, clubs and events. He has appeared on several albums, performed on BBC radio and TV, and shared the stage with some of the world’s finest players.
The evening costs just £25pp which includes a delicious two course supper, and will feature a live performance from Phil, a chance to play along and a bit of a sing song too.
