EAUX Magazine looks at Woodbridge community events

Choose Woodbridge has announced the dates of several key events in the town’s 2015 calendar. The programme kicks off on Easter Saturday with the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Elmhurst Park and also includes the ‘What’s Tasty’ seasonal food markets, the Carnival and the popular Bark in the Park dog show.

The Easter Egg Hunt celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and has become a much-loved fixture on family calendars. It is free and open to children under the age of 12. The hunt starts at 11:00 prompt on Saturday 4th April in Elmhurst Park.

The ‘What’s Tasty?’ food markets on Market Hill are set to return for a third year. The spring market will take place on Saturday 30th May and the autumn market is on Saturday 10th October; both markets start at 9:30 and end at 15:00. A wide variety of local producers and exotic ‘out of towners’ bring a range of interesting foods to taste, buy and enjoy.

The Woodbridge Carnival is on 4th July and there is a change of venue this year. The procession will come through Woodbridge town centre to its new location at The Abbey playing fields on Cumberland Street where there will be activities, games and stalls, all topped off with a spectacular firework display.

‘Woofbridge: The Bark in the Park’ family dog show is back on Saturday 5th September between 11:00 and 17:00 at Elmhurst Park. There will be demonstrations and numerous classes as well as stalls and activities.

Choose Woodbridge is a voluntary organisation that works to provide fun, free events for residents and visitors to the area. Chris Harrold, Chairman of Choose Woodbridge, said: “We hope to see lots of people enjoying our events and our town this year. Our aim is to provide free entertainment for all ages to encourage people to venture into Woodbridge, enjoy themselves and hopefully support its superb shops and businesses.”
